What is a housing co-op?

A housing co-operative is a non-profit organization that builds or manages housing for its members. The inhabitants are members: they buy shares but remain tenants (they do not own their home).

Rents are calculated on the basis of actual costs, which is often lower than on the market. Members participate in the decisions and management of the cooperative (meetings, votes).

The objective is to guarantee quality, stable and affordable housing, with a community and solidarity spirit.

The project in a few words:

This housing cooperative project is located in the village of Burtigny, close to the main street, and enjoys an unobstructed view of the fields and the Lake Geneva landscape.

It provides for the construction of a dozen housing units, spread over two levels + attic.

Future residents will have the opportunity to participate from the very beginning in the design of their home, in order to adapt it to their needs while ensuring that the architectural harmony of the whole is preserved. Common areas will complete the project, promoting a balance between private and collective life. The cooperators will thus be invited to engage in a real common adventure and to contribute to the creation of a sustainable, singular place to live in harmony with the identity of the village.

A partnership with the Municipality provides for the development of a car park nearby as well as the connection to district heating, powered by an ecological energy source. The architecture will favor the use of local, sustainable materials with a low environmental impact, in connection with the region's forest and agricultural resources.

Cooperative share:

The amount will be defined according to the surface area of the dwelling.

from CHF 1'146.- + charges per month.

• 3 rooms (approx. 76 m2)

from CHF 1'750.- + charges per month.

• 4 rooms (approx. 120 m2)

from CHF 2'604.- + charges per month.

• 5 rooms (approx. 135 m2)

from CHF 2'854.- + charges per month.
